New life in Christ
It is lovely to look around and see the flower blossoms and green leaves of Spring coinciding with the death burial and resurrection of Christ this week. Out of the four seasons, is it just a coincidence that God provided The Way for us to have newness of life through the resurrection of Christ in the Spring? The landscape of Spring is fresh, beautiful, aromatic, and new. Spring is life-giving to our body, mind, and spirit, just as newness of life in Christ offers joy in the Spirit, hope in eternity, and peace with God. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. [2 Co 5:17]
We have a new identity as born-again Christians! The enemy is a liar [Jn 8:44], therefore tries so hard to make us believe the lie that we are still the old self. What happens when we believe we are the old self? We embrace it and act out the old version of our selves instead of walking in the newness of life that God has clothed us in. God tells us, “That, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.” [Eph 4:22-24]
God calls us to walk out newness of life in Him, staying connected to Him, our ever-watchful shepherd. When we were made new and filled with the Holy Spirit, the enemy lost all ground or rights to us. If we choose to be rebellious unforgiving or place people or things above God, then we give the enemy opportunity to retake ground in our lives. We must be ever vigilant of enemy schemes to make us believe we are the old person.
The new way is an abundant life that bears fruit. It is a thankful and joy filled life despite struggles. The old way is living in defeat and sucking life from others. The old life is an ungrateful and self-focused life, filled with fear, anxiety, and depression. The new way is victorious and purposeful. Speaking of our lives before being born again, God says, “And in them you also once walked, when you were living in them. But now you also rid yourselves of all of them: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it.” [Col 3: 7-10]
We must renew our mind by taking captive our thoughts. We are to speak truth over the lies. We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ [2 Co 10:5]
Look at the list of who we are “In Christ” My challenge to you is to pick out three favorites from this list. The ones we pick are usually the ones we want to believe and yet struggle to fully believe in being our new identity. This is the truth of who we are in Christ. The very words of God so that we can know the truth and the truth can set us free. [Jn 8:32]
The Word speaks the truth, then our mind (soul) chooses to believe the truth in agreement with the Holy Spirit at work in us, and then our physical body responds to our taking in the life-giving words of God. Or we can choose to reject the truth in our souls (mind), which conflicts against the Holy Spirit in us. This gives ground to the enemy which results in theft death and destruction [Jn 10:10], and to which our physical bodies also respond. The Lord reminds us, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”
What happens when, by faith, we believe we are walking in the newness of our lives in Christ? We can live and walk out who we really are, Our new identity as child of God. So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also. In addition to all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ, to which you were indeed called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. [Colossians 3:12-17]
As we celebrate the resurrection of Christ in the beauty and newness of Spring, let us walk in our new identity as holy and beloved children of God.

At Freedom View, we meet with people weekly over the course of a few months. This past quarter we met with many couples and several individuals. Please continue to pray for those we meet with to better understand their identity in Christ and for them to have a desire for God's word and intimacy with Him in their daily lives.
Lord willing, we will be teaching a class on Soul Care this summer!
Lord willing, we hope to get our office moved into the new Upper Room at Freedom View this summer!
We want to give a shout out to our guys leading Commissioned young men’s group! Joshua and Daniel are doing an excellent job discipling young men to abide in Christ, to be readers and doers of the Word, be leaders, defend the faith, and walk in purity, honor, and integrity!

It is good to stop and reflect on the goodness and faithfulness of God. We have the most amazing privilege to meet with others and be a witness to the healing, freeing, and transformational work of Jesus Christ! We wouldn’t be where we are today without the intervention of God ten years ago and His transformative work in our own family.
In 2004 we began serving in Full-time ministry at Indigenous Bible College. (https://www.indianbible.org/) In 2016 we found ourselves exhausted and in desperate need of care, rest and refreshment. During the first ten years of serving, teaching, discipling, mentoring we had extended ourselves way beyond what God had ever intended because we were “yes” people, full of pride thinking we could do anything and everything that was asked of us. We even invented more things to do on our own. We never stopped to ask the Lord if some of these “asks” were things He wanted us to do. We were doing so much “helping others” we had neglected our marriage, our family relationships, and even our relationship with God, whom ironically, we were doing all these things for.
We were a mess. We needed help, we needed someone to come along side us, we needed healing and freedom, we needed soul care. We were granted a sabbatical. We searched for a place to go for rest and help. There are nice places out there for those needing sabbatical rest and refreshment, but we could not afford them.
So, instead of going somewhere else, we rested, prayed, dove into the Word, and spent time with God, at home. Having to do it this way was God’s plan for us all along. He needed us dialed in and focused solely on Him for all He wanted to accomplish. He had our full surrender, attention and willing hearts.
His work in us through that time is an amazing testimony of God’s divine healing and restoration of our relationship with Him, our marriage, and eventually our children. It would be a book to read so, I can only share the basics of what He taught us here.
The number one thing God taught us is, Intimacy with God is the most important thing in the life of the believer. Intimacy with God is hindered if our flesh gets in the way. It is important to insert that God isn’t keeping Himself from us as believers in Christ. Instead, we have kept ourselves from Him. God tells us, “Do not quench the Spirit.” [1Th 5:19] If we continuously ignore the Holy Spirit and choose to do things in our own strength, our spiritual senses eventually become dull to His prompting. “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.” [Is 59:2]
Jesus tells us, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” [Jn 15:4] When we have developed intimacy with God, as we abide in Him, He enables us to:
· hear and respond to His voice as our shepherd.
· see ourselves and others in His light. The truth.
· know and live out our true identity as a child of God.
· discern quickly when we come under attack by the enemy.
· pray effectively in The Spirit.
· understand His will and purpose for us.
· share the Gospel.
· walk out His plan for us by faith.
· not be led astray by lies and false teaching.
· have marriages that flourish.
· help our children develop intimacy with God in their own lives.
· grow in our spiritual gifts
· bear plentiful fruit
· hear God to know when to say yes to what God has for us and No to all the other things that steal from the “yes” things and steal from having the time to develop intimacy with Him.
The list goes on and on. We were so busy “doing” that we didn’t make time for “abiding”. Because God places the priority on our relationship with Him over our service for Him, we were doing things in our own strength and pride and therefore, exhausting ourselves.
Freedom View was birthed in our hearts in 2019 from the work God began in us during sabbatical. God began preparing us for this transition to Freedom View as we continued to serve at Indigenous Bible College until 2023. God called us to the ministry of Soul Care to help and encourage the Church to spiritual health through intimacy with God.
Over half of the individuals and couples we have met with in the past few years are those serving in ministry. They come in feeling extended beyond their abilities, just like we did. Some were in bondage due to lies about their identity. Some had unforgiveness toward themselves, others, or God. Some may be serving in a ministry God never called them to because they didn’t seek Him about it first. Many were not walking in the freedom that make it possible for us to have a deeply intimate relationship with God. If you have any doubt about the power of God in the lives of those who are surrendered to His care, go visit the testimonials page under the "about" tab on Freedom View website.
Clint still enjoys teaching at Indigenous Bible College every semester. Teaching, leading, mentoring, advocating, and soul caring are Clint’s gifts and God allows him to continue serving in these capacities. I am grateful for Clint’s leadership and covering. He is a defender of The Faith. He stands for truth in love. He is a trustworthy and faithful man of God. He is also a pretty funny guy so he keeps me entertained. I am blessed to be his wife of 28 years!
You all have made what we do possible by your continued prayers and support. We are grateful for your love and encouragement these past 20 years. Thank you for hanging in there with us through the highs and lows!
In His grace,
Anna & Clint
First Baptist Church of Tuba City
First Baptist Church of Tuba City is our second church family. They invite Clint to share a message on the second Sunday of every month. We love this precious body of believers who take a bold stand for Christ and are fearless in sharing the gospel on the Navajo Nation. Stop in to visit on a Sunday morning! https://www.facebook.com/FirstBaptistChurchofTC/
We also want to give a shout out to Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Emporia! Since Anna has been traveling there so much, they have welcomed her as part of the family. Anna has fallen in love with this sweet community of believers. Brad and Melodi are wonderful and have been pastoring, teaching and shepherding this church since 2007. Here is the website if you are ever in Emporia and want to join them on a Sunday morning. https://calvarychapelemporia.com/ You can also watch Sunday morning on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@calvarychapelemporia6148
Please be in prayer for our wonderful parents! Each one of them is precious to us. As they are getting on in years it has been an honor to be able to provide care for them as they need it. We check in on Clint’s dad regularly. Anna has been traveling to be with her parents in Kansas about once a month since December, which is a lot, but we feel is necessary for now.
Clints Dad, Glenn (90) lives in Flagstaff near us. He recovered from stage 4 kidney cancer quite miraculously one year ago. Clint’s mom passed away last Christmas around the same time dad recovered. Recently he fell and broke his hip and had a hip replacement. We have been blessed to help care for him, along with other family members that live in the area.
Anna’s Dad, Jim (92) and stepmom, Trudi (75) live in Emporia Kansas. Trudi had her ankle replaced last year and is doing fairly well now. Jim has some ongoing health issues and makes visits to the Veterans hospital regularly.
Anna’s Mom, Karen (88) also now lives in Emporia Kansas. Her health declined quite suddenly recently so she made the move from California to Kansas to be closer to family. She was a San Diego resident for 20 years. She now lives with Anna’s sister, Leslie. Anna’s other sister Amy also lives in Emporia.
