“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19

What: Freedom View is a refuge where God The Father comforts, heals, reconciles, and nourishes the believer’s soul by the counsel of God's word through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Why: Our purpose is to come alongside the wounded Christian so that God can restore them to health and they are able to find true freedom in Him; no one gets left behind. The transformed heart and mind must come first alongside solid biblical teaching before entering a healthy lifetime of service.

Who: For Christian’s who are struggling with their identity, struggling in their marriage relationships, struggling in grief, and/or those desiring to be free from bondage or strongholds.

Where: Freedom View is a place of spiritual safety for Believers who are struggling, with the purpose of helping them discover freedom in Christ; a place where we are not savior but where one learns to rely fully on Jesus as Savior, Counselor, Mentor, and Friend; a place where one learns to fully rely on God’s Word as authority and instruction for life and truth; a place where we can rest in the still and quiet to allow God access to our deepest parts as a means to nurture, cultivate, and grow us in worship, praise, and adoration through intimacy with Jesus; and where one understands their identity and position as child of God and therefore, confident to exercise their authority in Christ against the lies of the enemy.

How: We are able to minister to those living locally on a weekly basis. On average those receiving soul care locally will meet once a week for a two hour session 8 to 10 times over the span of a few months. We are able to minister to those visiting from further away over several days of longer, more intensive meetings. Sessions will be determined during the intake process. Soul care is only possible when we are grounded in God’s Word, walking in the Holy Spirit, and in fellowship with God’s people.

Meet the Freedom View Team

Clint & Anna

Executive Director

Clint and Anna Married in 1997. They have six children and five grandchildren. They have been serving in ministry full-time for the past twenty years. Most of this time has been spent serving with Indian Bible College (IBC). At IBC Clint has served as Professor of Practical Theology, Dean of Students, Academic Dean, and Executive Vice President, and now serves simply as an adjunct Professor.

During our time in ministry the Lord began to really teach us how to disciple and care for individuals and couples. We recognized the need for this type of soul care especially among other Christian leaders and Pastors who were busy caring for others but not getting the care they needed. In 2019 the Lord began directing us to providing soul care in a larger capacity and gave us the vision for Freedom View.

Our local church, Commissioned, came along side to help build up and support this vision of Freedom View. Commissioned has poured in countless hours, finances, and physical labor to make Freedom View a reality.

Ways we serve:

• Clint serves as a shepherd and teacher with Commissioned Church: Commissioned is a small church in the local Flagstaff community whose focus is to disciple and cultivate biblical transformational change in the setting of a small body of believers.

• Clint and Anna serve as soul care specialists of Freedom View. Freedom View is a ministry of Commissioned Church to serve the local church and the Church worldwide.

• Clint serves as Professor at Indian Bible College: Educating Indigenous Native Christians for a lifetime of biblical ministry and spiritual leadership to their people and the world.

Although we are serving three different ministries, they are all interwoven with one another. To put it simply, we teach, disciple, and provide soul care. Sometimes people stay or live with us at Freedom View for this process.

Ryan & Kristin

Administration

Ryan and Kristin: Prior to getting married, both Ryan and Kristin served alongside Clint and Anna in youth ministry. Although many things have changed over the years, one thing became apparent. There was an incredible need in the church for deeper accountability and counseling for the wounded believer, themselves included. It was at this time, that both Ryan and Kristin went through soul care under the counsel of Clint and Anna. After working through their own hurts and burdens, their hearts became passionate for helping others to work through their own pasts to find this same freedom in Christ.

Ryan, assists in many of the background logistics, including serving on the board, as well as working with lawyers and banks to help things run smoothly. Both Ryan and Kristin have walked alongside other believers who have received soul care, praying and providing encouragement along the way. Both Ryan and Kristin are dedicated to the development of additional resources at Freedom View and partnering financially.

Ryan- Self-described as growing up in a house of happy heathens, Ryan was the first to become a Christ follower in his immediate family. His family instilled in him the value of working hard, pulling yourself up by your boot straps and getting the job done. Even though this work ethic was important, Ryan had to learn that his worth wasn’t in his work, but rather in the person of Christ. Under the mentorship and encouragement of Clint, Ryan deepened his relationship with his Savior and served alongside him at a local church doing youth ministry as a young adult.

Kristin- Growing up in a Christian household, church, AWANA, youth group and prayer meetings were all a regular part of family life. The most influential part, however, were the relationships and friendships developed with mentors and friends, especially in the high school years. Moving away to college proved to be a pivotal moment in her life, as keeping a relationship with Jesus had to become a priority she had to make instead of her parents. Sophomore year of college, Kristin met Ryan as a local church embarked on a mission trip to Costa Rica. Starting off a relationship, with a true desire to serve and do the Lords work, became a foundation for their marriage and family.

Ben & Julie

Facilities & Communication

Ben and Julie started dating in 2021 and got married in September of 2022. Ben brought along two beautiful daughters that Julie gets to be a bonus mom to! She is very thankful to have a husband that puts God first in their marriage and family. Ben very much understands the importance of leading his family well. Julie takes her role as a helpmate very seriously and encourages Ben in any way she can (i.e. being honest and truthful, holding Ben accountable, being a sounding board, praying for him regularly, etc.). As a couple, they strive to model for their girls and others the same values Christ has modeled. Ben and Julie currently serve within Commissioned and Freedom View in varying capacities. Ben co-shepherds alongside the other men within Commissioned leadership and serves as facilities manager for Freedom View. Julie serves as administrative assistance and communication.

Being raised in a Christian home, one thing Ben has always been thankful for was his parents instilling the importance of keeping God first in his life. For him, this was demonstrated by always being involved with church events and programs. The old saying, “every day of the week and twice on Sunday” could sum up his family's church involvement. This was not a bad thing, and Ben was grateful for his experience and exposure to the traditional local church’s inner workings. It was not until his late 20’s that he realized why he continually struggled to maintain steady intimacy and ongoing fulfillment in his relationship with the Lord. The motivations for being at church and involved were often misplaced. Based largely on his appearance to others and more often focused on his behavior towards others, rather than the true condition of his heart and his heart towards others. Freedom View played a significant role in helping Ben rediscover true freedom in Christ, along with the practical and Biblical training to maintain this freedom and intimacy.

Ben values spending time with his wife Julie and two girls Emmerson and Elise. Playing card games, putting together puzzles, going ice skating, and swimming at the pool. When Ben has any margin of time, he enjoys woodworking, and the occasional day on the mountain snowboarding.

Julie has been a believer since she was 7 years old. She grew up memorizing Bible verses, going to VBS, attending youth group and missions trips, going to church every Sunday, and participating in various women’s Bible studies as she got older. Unfortunately, Julie did not develop a meaningful relationship with the Lord until she was 28. Instead of developing an intimate relationship with the Lord that would lead to heart changes, everything seemed to be focused on behavior modification and short-term fixes. Julie became bitter towards the church and frustrated with seeing how His people were treating others. This bitterness led to Julie leaving her church of 20 years in June of 2020. However, God knew Julie was using this hurt from her past church to avoid Him and His people altogether. She was running and He needed to get her attention somehow. Along came Ben Kurtze - a coworker and fellow believer. He was in the midst of a divorce but his character and demeanor through the process stood out to Julie. He invited her to his home church, Commissioned. She was hesitant to join, as she had been burned by the church before. But this felt different. For the first time in her life, she felt surrounded by genuine and authentic believers. People who truly loved God and His people. She felt a spark come alive in her that had been burned out for years. Things like unforgiveness and spiritual warfare were ideas that Julie had not encountered until joining Commissioned. It was clear to her that she had deep roots of unforgiveness that Satan was controlling. She completed the Steps to Freedom in spring of 2022 and has lived in freedom since then!

Nancy

I've been doing the books for Commissioned and Freedom View since 2023! I went to business and accounting school when our kids were little. Initially I kept the books for a company that owned 4 Arby's restaurants. Later I worked as a bookkeeper/ office manager for a ready-mix company for several years. Then my husband and I were fortunate enough to buy Block-lite with his parents where I kept the books and was the office manager for 21 years before we retired in 2016. My husband and I have been married almost 48 years. We have been blessed with 2 children and 2 bonus children when they got married. We now have 6 amazing grandkids. I am so happy to be part of this endeavor with Clint and Anna, along with other missionaries that my husband and I support both financially and in prayer.
